In my excitement over our news, I have forgotten to post something that Nathan said last week.
Friday, we went to the lab so I could get my bloodwork done. When we arrived, we went into the waiting area and I signed in. We sat down and I noticed a black couple waiting with a really cute toddler. They were really dark black – that you don’t see too often around here in NH – and I say that only because of what comes next. Nathan must have seen them at the same time I did because he pointed directly to them and said very loudly:
“Mommy, why are those people so very brown?”
My face immediately started turning many shades of red and I just wanted to melt into the ground and disappear. I was so embarrassed I can’t remember exactly what I said in response, but I think I mumbled something along the lines of “Honey, we don’t talk & point like that, it’s not very nice. You know that you & Emily are different? Jesus made everyone different and He loves us all.”
Thankfully at that point – just as quickly as he blurted it out – Nathan turned his attention to asking for a snack. And I gave it to him – very quickly too.
