We had to go to the doctor’s for Emily’s (late) 2 year check-up and a follow-up appointment for me. It went very well. Emily is doing great, the doctor was very pleased with her development and said she was doing wonderfully. Emily weighed in at 32 pounds on their scale but that was with her shoes & all her clothes (plus a wet diaper) so she’s probably really about 30 pounds (Nurse agreed.) She’s 35″ tall so she’s about 90th percentile for both height and weight.
All went well with my follow-up too. My lab results showed that I am deficient on Vitamin D. My level was at 20, they want it around 50 or more. So in addition to the amount I’m taking daily now (800 mg with 1200 mg Calcium), my doctor wants me to take 1000 mg more daily. That should bring me back up to where I should be. I’m already feeling a lot better mentally (as I posted about previously) so I’m really hopeful the additional D will help even more. I love that it’s so easy and natural – it makes me feel better, like it’s not just some crazy head problem I have, you know? (Ok, so you don’t, but that’s just how I feel. 😉 )
We left the doctor’s and about halfway home, Emily asked for her puppy. I asked Nathan if he could see Emily’s puppy and he said no. OH NO! Then I realized I had a voice mail from the doctor’s office from the nurse – she called to let me know we had left Emily’s puppy behind and they’d hold it for us at the front desk until we were able to pick it up. I called back, but they were already closed for the day (4:30.) So no puppy for Emily tonight. I am sooo in trouble. I’m just hoping & praying I can pacify her with some other stuffed toy (usually that doesn’t work. )
And I’m going to have to drive back down to Bedford (55 minute drive, fun, fun, fun!) to pick it up. I’m hoping that Nate will be flying back around 5 and then I can grab Emily’s puppy & pick up Nate from the airport. I would feel a little better that it’s not an entire trip JUST for the puppy then. But regardless, I HAVE to go down because we can’t go all weekend without puppy.
We invited some friends over to visit tomorrow, but unfortunately the little girl is sick so they had to cancel. (This was the same family we cancelled dinner plans with a couple weekends ago when I got sick.) Gotta love this time of year! We’ll try again when everyone is healthy.
I woke up this morning feeling tired and grumpy because Emily (who is normally a very good sleeper) kept me up late until 12:30. I had planned to head to bed at 10:30 which I did, but Emily woke up and kept me up. Then I walk into Nathan’s room (this morning) to find that he had wet his bed again. *sigh* He’s almost 6 years old, I am soooo tired of having to buy pull-up’s for him! We’ve started a new means of motivation – if his pull-up is dry in the morning, he gets a star. When he has 2 stars, he can have a small piece of candy (leftover halloween candy. I wonder how long that stuff lasts? We still have a bunch.) Yesterday morning AND this morning, he has wet his bed. All I can think is he’s taking his pull-up off in an attempt to keep it dry. Of course, that doesn’t go over so well and he most certainly does NOT earn a star for wetting his bed. Instead, he earns a very upset mom. This morning, I was so frustrated, I made him stay in his room until I could talk to his dad on the phone. I wasn’t able to get ahold of Nate for an hour and a half, so Nathan had to wait (without having breakfast.) I think that was a decent punishment. I’m still not entirely sure what we’re going to do. Nathan just doesn’t care, that’s the problem. He’s fine during the day, but not at night. And it’s not like he has an occasional accident. It’s 6 out of 7 nights, ALL the time. That’s why we still use pull-up’s because I’d much rather pay for that than change his bed every single darn morning. *sigh*
My vacuum isn’t working today (something with the stupid belt that Nate can fix easily, but I don’t know how.) Oh did I mention that Nathan broke one of the living room blinds? Yeah, it’s broken at the top, no way to put it back up. So in the meantime, I’ve fastened a fleece blanket to my curtain to give me a little privacy at night. (Otherwise the neighbors and anyone on the road can see right in my living room.) I couldn’t find any clothespins (Nate put them somewhere and I don’t know where) so I used 2 clips from the kitchen (you know the kind you use to clip a potato chip bag closed? that) That’s an interesting sight.
I’m ready for Nate to come home. I am SOOO ready. Hon, I hope you’re coming home tomorrow. We miss you and need you…
On another note, I stopped at Shaw’s today and got some stuff for a great deal.
-10 boxes of Quaker instant oatmeal
-14 Reeses (full-sized) candy bars – 5 cents each
-3 packages of steak & pork for Abby (we make homemade dog food)
-2 packages of Oreos (special treat for the kids)
-a box of Hershey’s chocolate for me (because I’m pregnant and craving chocolate – what can I say?)
-2 quarts of strawberries
-10 boxes of Kleenex
All for $25.
If I hadn’t splurged and bought myself that chocolate and the oreos for the kids, my total would have been closer to $15 for everything. Not so bad.
Here’s one of my receipts for 5 boxes of Quaker instant oatmeal: Total = $0.00.
I didn’t have to open my wallet. The guy behind me in line was flabbergasted.
Here’s how it works: The oatmeal was on sale for $2.00 a box. I had coupons for $0.70 off one box. Doubling each coupon brings the total down to .60 per box. Total for 5 boxes is now: $3.00 There was also a coupon on the flyer for $3.00 off 5 Quaker oatmeal products. There’s your 5 boxes for FREE. That’s my favorite kind of shopping. And as for the rest of my stuff. I bought $90 worth of groceries for $25. Also not so bad.
