I can’t believe I forgot to post this, but I did! It must have been because of the excitement of my ultrasound. Nathan lost his first tooth on Saturday night! He was playing with our dog, Abby, and all of a sudden he jumped up and yelled “Mom, my tooth is gone!” And sure enough it was. I immediately began to look for it and Nathan said “Oh Abby ate it!”
Honestly that wouldn’t have surprised me. Our dog eats everything. Her favorite thing to eat – even moreso than all the dog treats in the world – is crayons. I am constantly finding half chewed crayons – or rather finding Abby guilty trying to hide the crayon she was in the process of chewing when she sees me coming.
Anyways, I’m looking for this tooth and getting more and more upset that the darn dog has eaten my “baby’s” first lost tooth!! Nate thought it was really funny and he was laughing and telling me “Of course this happens to us! This is our life you’re talking about!” I couldn’t blame him there, but just the same! I finally found the tooth a few feet away on the carpet – yay! Apparently, Nathan had been playing tug of war with Abby – he (Nathan) had Abby’s long rope of worn socks in his mouth while Abby tugged on the other end (um GROSS!!) And apparently a good tug from Abby sent the tooth flying.
But I found it and we put it in a ziplock bag to wait for the toothfairy later that night. Then I had to explain to Nathan why his mouth was bleeding a little. “Oh I didn’t know that was going to happen, Mom!” (Yeah, they don’t tell you that when you’re a little kid!)
The tooth fairy brought Nathan a dollar in quarters and a dollar bill, so $2.00! That’s for the first tooth, after that, the tooth fairy will bring $1.00 per tooth in our house. Nathan was thrilled when he woke up the next morning. Actually he told me he woke up “when it was still dark outside and felt around under his pillow and found the coins AND the dollar bill!”
And here’s my little boy with his adorable new smile!
