Today is another typical day in our house.
Breakfast, morning chores, school, lunch, Nathan outside/Emily nap/I get a (somewhat of a) break on the computer time, snack time, break up fights/arguments, more chores, and now I’m blogging again.
Okay, I really spent a good deal of the afternoon fixing up my blog. I admit it. But I really did need to relax today. I’ve been having a lot of braxton hicks contractions lately & last night, they were coming too frequently and several were getting painful where I had to breathe through them. I did get a decent night’s sleep last night so I’m doing pretty good today, but I knew I had to take it easy today and not do too much. So there was my pretty valid excuse to blog today. I haven’t entirely done “nothing” this afternoon – I’ve kept up with my laundry. Now I just need to fold it tonight… The problem with that is lately I am so tired by the time I put the kids to bed (and when I would normally pull out the laundry to fold) that I forget about it. Note to self: Do not forget tonight!
Nate bought me some more Girl Scout cookies yesterday! Some more Samoas and some of the Lemon Cremes that I have been craving ever since another mom on my June due date board mentioned them. I only had 2 last night though. It’s weird though, ever since being so sick last weekend, I really don’t have much of an appetite. I don’t find myself feeling hungry, where I was hungry ALL the time before. I actually have to make myself eat. Nothing sounds that good to me right now. My stomach is fine, I’ve been able to eat again since Monday, but it’s weird. I made myself drink a protein shake this afternoon because I only ate 1/2 PB sandwich and a little canned vegetable soup (yuck) for lunch. None of it tasted good. I started feeling light headed so I knew I needed some more protein.
Joshua is very active lately. And he is loving kicking on my bladder. I had actually gone for a few weeks without having to get up to pee in the middle of the night, but no more.
I’m just praying my contractions stay away tonight. So far, I’ve had a few normal braxton hicks this afternoon, but nothing too worrisome…
Right now, Nathan is pretending that he is Jack & Emily is Jill. It’s so fun to see them pretending. I’m not sure where he got that from, I haven’t read any nursery rhymes to him lately and I don’t think he’s seen any on tv. Who knows though. That boy has a memory like an elephant. He constantly amazes me with the things he remembers from weeks/months before.
We have to really watch what we say around him now. Not that we swear, but we are having to watch some of those borderline words, like “darn,” “crap,” etc. We’ve had many discussions lately about certain phrases. Nathan noticed that on his favorite “Storm Chasers” show, some of the people would say “Oh my gosh!” and he asked us about that. We explained that that was naughty and we don’t say that. (Another thing I’ve had to learn/remember not to say!) So now when he hears that, he’ll say “Oh that’s naughty! We don’t say that!” Every time too. I’m very glad that he understands, but I’m hoping he doesn’t say that to some random person in the store one day. Because it would probably sound very self-righteous and that’s truly not what we’re teaching him. We just don’t want our 5 year old saying things like that.
Well I’m off. Time to read some stories with the kids and then dinner time. Thankfully we’re having leftovers. I made a big Reunion Casserole last night and we have plenty for dinner tonight and tomorrow. Yum!
