I am so tired today. I went to bed later than I should have – thanks to Nate getting home late & then we wanted to quickly watch the American Idol results (thank heavens for tivo where we could fast forward 95% of the crap and turn an hour show into 10 minutes.) And then Emily woke me up at 3 am, 4 am, 5 am, and 7 am. I think she’s starting to get her 2 year old molars in. Isn’t this supposed to be the time when I’m allowed to get some sleep before the new baby comes? This is not fun.
Nate has been working long hours this week trying to get something done for a project. At least he’s “home” and we’ve been able to see him (a little)! I am so thankful he has tomorrow off and we’ll have a 3 day weekend. I’m hoping he can get a lot done on Nathan’s room – soon to be the “boys’ room!” I am starting to feel anxious about getting things set up for the baby.
We went to Babies R Us last Sunday after church and we bought pretty much everything we needed for Joshua, including a new bouncer, baby bathtub, towels, etc. We also bought Emily’s new convertible carseat – an Evenflo Triumph Advance. We would have bought one for Joshua too (he’ll need one when he outgrows the infant carrier – and as I’m expecting him to be big, I don’t think we’ll use the infant carseat for longer than 3 or 4 months), but I forgot to print out an extra 10% off coupon so we’re just going to buy it from amazon, which has the same price and free shipping.
We also went to the Gymboree outlet (Nate had promised me a trip there as a thank you for being ok with him traveling those extra weeks.) They had a ton of stuff marked down and I got some fantastic bargains for all three kids. Most of it was clothes for next fall/winter. I’m finding myself buying clearance clothes ahead of season more and more lately. It is so nice to find name brand quality clothing, especially from Gymboree, and buy pants for Nathan for $5-7 and cute dresses for Emily for $10. You can’t beat it and I just love opening up the closet or storage box and finding a ton of brand new clothes for that season that I bought previously at great bargains.
I might have to do a little more shopping for summer clothes for Joshua but regardless, I’m holding off for another month or two because stores are just bringing out their lighter clothes and there aren’t any good deals right now. Plus I have to save some baby clothes shopping for later, right? I do love shopping for baby stuff! We do still need to get a new dresser for the boys’ room, but we’ll probably just get that from craiglist.
Here are a few pictures from last week while Daddy was away. We were making a yummy “No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie” recipe. It’s so easy & very delicious.
Here’s the recipe –
No-Bake Cocoa Cookies
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. baking cocoa
1 tsp vanilla
3 1/2 c. oatmeal
1 c. peanut butter
Combine sugar, butter, milk & cocoa in large saucepan. Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat. Stir in remaining ingredients. Immediately drop by spoonful onto cookie sheet covered in wax paper. Cool completely in refrigerator. Makes 4 dozen.
Storage: I have always stored them in the refrigerator, but I don’t think you have to.
