I haven’t blogged much lately because to be quite honest, I haven’t been on the computer that much! I have been keeping busy doing things around the house!
There’s nothing too exciting going on at our house. Here’s a quick recap of our weekend – not that it’s all that interesting to you all, but this is mainly for me 😉 :
Our weekend did not turn out quite as we had planned, but then again when does it ever? That’s life.
Nate had Friday off which was very nice and I was looking forward to his 3 day weekend. However, he spent the entire day Friday working on his car up at his friend’s house 40 minutes away. It didn’t help that the auto store gave him the wrong part – that took up several hours of his time. The good news: he fixed his car. He has to do a couple more minor tweaks yet but his car is drivable! I have to say that I am so proud of my hubby! He is so talented and can do so much. Even if he doesn’t know how to do something, he isn’t afraid to try and learn. And save us a lot of money in the process! Love you, hon!
On Saturday, I woke up not feeling well. I don’t remember if I mentioned it or not, but Emily came down with a cold on Wednesday. I think my lack of sleep for the past week (going to bed late because hubby is getting home late plus not sleeping well due to well being 26/27 weeks pregnant) lowered my immune system. Despite taking my usual elderberry/echinacea combo that I usually take when I’m exposed to illness, I still came down with it. Thankfully the Lord spared me because by Sunday I had started to feel better.
But back to Saturday: Nate’s car was finished, so we went to pick it up and then followed him home. It worked! Praise the Lord! Such a relief, I tell you! Now I am just hoping & praying that we won’t have any car issues for awhile. I think we’re due for a good spell, right? I hope…
We also ran a bunch of errands, including a trip to Target, which I always love. We bought a bunch of Sterilite bins for organizing – I was very excited about that. We also had a decent trip to the grocery store, where I managed to get $300 worth of groceries for about $60. Not too shabby.
On Sunday, I still wasn’t feeling great. Emily was still fighting her cold and Nathan had complained that his throat was sore the night before. Nate was exhausted (getting 4 hours of sleep at night all week will do that to you) and we decided it would be best to stay home from church. I stayed home with the kids from our Lifegroup meeting that night too. I was really disappointed, as I had really been looking forward to it, but when the kids are sick, what can you do? Especially since I wasn’t feeling great myself.
Since Monday, I’ve been feeling pretty much back to normal. I am tired but that’s about it. The Lord healed me so quickly and I am so thankful for that. It’s almost unheard of to get over a cold in 2 days flat – from start to finish – but I did. Thank You Jesus!
Nate is out of town on business again. He left Monday and will (hopefully) be returning on Thursday. I’m just thankful that we are feeling better. Emily still has a drippy nose and is still super whiny, but she’s definitely on the mend. I have a wonderful new friend too and she has been so encouraging to me. The Lord has really been blessing us and I am just in awe of His goodness.
I think I have lost my mind though. I have been non-stop cleaning and organizing the past 2 days. I am only 27 weeks, I’m hoping this isn’t a sign that Joshua will be coming early. I don’t remember being this frantic to get things clean until later on with Nathan & Emily.
In the past 2 days, I have re-organized the entire living room including the toys – quite a feat. Like many families without the luxury of an entire separate room for toys, our living room duals as a “playroom” and is a daily battle for me as I try to contain the toys as best I can. But with my new organizing tools from Target, I was able to do quite a nice job of containing everything. The kids each have their own “special bins” now where they can put their miscellaneous toys (junk), including Emily’s collection of princess things that she loves to tote everywhere and Nathan’s random toys like a magnifying glass.
I scrubbed walls, windows, dusted everything, I even pulled out the couch and chair and vacuumed behind them and scrubbed the walls behind them. I organized the dining room closet, which doubles as storage for arts/crafts/puzzles etc. All of that is nicely and neatly contained and organized now. And cleaned. And vacuumed everything yet again. I polished light switches and door knobs. I think I’m a little insane right now.
I am tired. So tired right now. But I still feel like I need to keep going. I almost mopped my kitchen floor tonight but when I looked at the clock, I knew there wasn’t enough time for it to dry before dinner so I skipped it. Plus I am feeling some extra BHC, so I know that’s a warning to slow down. That will be on tomorrow’s agenda.
As a reward to myself for all the hard work I’ve been doing, I plan on watching my new Twilight DVD tonight! I am so excited, I cannot wait to put the kids to bed and turn it on! Wooohoo! Of course, I do have to fold laundry, but hey that’s no big deal!
Tomorrow, I plan to, in addition to regular daily chores:
-put away the laundry
-mop the floors
-clean the bathroom
-run to the grocery store to pick up a few small things
-bake cookies with the kids
