Here’s a few “funnies” from the kids lately:
Last week when Joshua was barely a week old, Nathan said to me “Mom, when is Joshua going to get bigger? It’s taking him a long time to be a kid so he can play with me!”
Nathan has decided that we need to have another baby soon and the next one should be a baby sister. (Am I allowed a break already? Apparently not…) He was discussing this at lunch the other day and said the “new baby sister” (it’s already set in stone I guess) should be named Emily. I said “But we already have an Emily.”
Nathan: “That’s okay, we can have two Emily’s!”
Emily looked at him and said “NO, that’s MINE!”
A couple nights ago, Nate had put Nathan to bed early because Nathan was being naughty. He couldn’t find Nathan’s pillow, so he told Nathan he had to make do with his other smaller pillow. When I checked on the kids as I always do before I go to bed, I found Nathan’s pillow in Emily’s room. I brought it to Nathan and put it under his head.
The next morning, Nathan announced very excitedly “Mom, guess what? Jesus brought me my pillow last night!!! Daddy wouldn’t do it so I prayed to Jesus and He did!”
(I didn’t tell him that I had brought his pillow – after all Jesus did use me to bring it!)
On Thursday night, Nathan informed me that he was going to ask Jesus to bring the sunshine. It was sunny for most of yesterday (after weeks of rain.) Nathan told us many times yesterday how Jesus answered his prayer. Then last night, Nathan said he was going to ask Jesus for a thunderstorm. At about 1 pm this afternoon, Jesus sent a thunderstorm and wow, was it a big one. It thundered, hailed, was incredibly windy, and poured rain so hard and fast that there was literally a river running down our road.
I had to explain to Nathan that Jesus doesn’t always say yes, that sometimes He says “no” or we have to wait. But so far, Jesus has said “yes” and it’s pretty exciting for Nathan.
Oh the faith of a child! We can really learn so much from them!
