I have to say thank you to all of our wonderful friends & family who have done so much for us as we welcomed our little Joshua into our family. All of your prayers, encouraging words, meals, and offered help have meant so much to us. We really appreciate it.
Many of you have continued to offer to help out and I thank you so much for that.
I am really doing okay. I am tired, but that’s to be expected with a newborn. Some days are easier than others. I am still recovering from my c-section, and while I am healing well, it does take time – I am not allowed to exercise more than gentle walking, nor am I supposed to pick up anything heavier than the baby for another month.
Honestly, the best thing for me right now is just to hole up at home by myself with my kids. I have had many offers to help me out with my children, and I so appreciate it, but at this point, it’s just easier to handle it on my own. But again, thank you very very much.
What you can do is keep us in your prayers. That the Lord will give me strength (He is) and that Joshua will heal quickly from this thrush and start sleeping better. Thankfully he already is (I’ll update on that next.)
The wonderful ladies from our church have been bringing meals to us for the past 2 weeks and that has been SO incredibly helpful. Thank you all SOOOO much!
Nate is going away on business next week for 2-3 days starting on Monday. I’m not sure how I’m going to handle that because everything will fall on me 100%. But hopefully Joshua will be back to normal and sleeping a little better. Again I’m just going to hole up at home. I still have very little energy and I am anemic, so going out and about – at least without Nate to help me – is just not going to happen now. I’ll keep things simple by making easy kid-favorite meals (mac ‘n cheese, hotdogs, etc.) and some frozen meals for myself. I’ll figure it out. 😉
Nate was so wonderful last night. After he came home from work, he insisted I go to bed early and he kept Joshua downstairs for most of the night so I could get some much-needed rest. He slept on the couch and Joshua slept in the pack ‘n play. Nate said the baby was pretty good. At 4 am when Joshua woke up, Nate took care of him, and then brought him up to me. Joshua went back to sleep and let me rest until 7 am. I got up for the day at that point. I was able to get a good 5-6 hours of sleep straight and then another 3 hours after that. While I’m still tired, I am feeling much more human today and a million times better. Thank you so much, honey. You are just amazing.
I’ve managed to get some laundry done today, make a few phone calls, get some basic chores done (dishes, things picked up, etc.) and I’m feeling pretty good.
Joshua is doing better. After getting up at 7 am, he went back down until 10:30/11 am. After I fed him and changed him, he was really content and actually let me put him in the bouncy seat for a good hour while I got the kids (and myself!!!) lunch. On time! He fell asleep there too and slept for a good 30 minutes before waking up and fussing. I was pretty happy.
And right now, he is sleeping soundly in the pack’n play while I write this post. Emily is napping, Nathan is watching tv (it’s pouring cats and dogs outside yet again, so unfortunately the tv has been on a lot lately, but hey that’s life and I refuse to feel guilty about it at this point!)
Nate has a 3 day weekend starting tomorrow, so I am pretty happy about that. =)
And now here’s some more pictures from the past few days:
Joshua’s first bath – he didn’t like it at first, but then decided it wasn’t so bad:
From this morning:
Just a note – I did not dress Em in this outfit. I had a matching shirt on her but she decided to change, gotta love the fashion sense of a 2 year old!:
