Joshua is 6 weeks old today!
*He is starting to smile more regularly (check out the photos below!)
*He is regularly sleeping at 6 hours straight at night, more often than not he’ll sleep 7-8 hours! I told Nate that maybe that’s one of the pro’s to having a miserable last 2 months of pregnancy and a gigantic baby – they sleep through the night earlier on!
*He is eating 5-6 ounces at a feeding – generally 27-30 ounces a day.
*He naps in his crib – nice long naps – like 2 hours!! Yay! We still keep him in the Pack ‘n Play bassinet in our room at night, but I think we’ll be transitioning him to his crib at night within the next week or two! Nathan is a pretty deep sleeper, so I doubt Joshua would disturb him much.
*He’s a generally pretty happy baby. Unless he wants his binky & it keeps falling out of his mouth. Then he lets us know it! I think he likes to be held more than Nathan or Emily did which can be tricky, but for the most part he’s pretty easy. He tolerates the swing for short periods and he will fall asleep in the bouncy seat for short naps, but again he sleeps great in the crib for naps so I can’t complain too much. 😉 It’s just funny how different they all are. Nathan & Emily loved to take long naps in the swing & bouncy seat, but not this one.
*He doesn’t like his carseat very much so that makes for some interesting car rides. More often than not, we drive down the road with him screaming. Nate says he’s very proud of me for not freaking out. I guess that’s what happens when it’s your 3rd. You realize you’ve got to get to where ever you’re going and pulling over and trying to fix the problem (baby doesn’t like the carseat + his pacifier won’t stay in his mouth) is just going to prolong it for everyone as the crying is inevitable. Unless we never went anywhere.
*He LOVES Nathan & Emily. Especially Emily (well not that he loves her more than Nathan, but just that she spends more time with Joshua.) If she comes into the room and starts talking, Joshua turns toward her and just stares. He’ll watch her as she walks around the room and he smiled at her several times lately. It’s precious. She is such a little mommy to him too. I’ve seen her correct Nathan on how he is doing something with Joshua too “No, Na-Na, that’s not right. Do it like THIS!”
I even took the kids for a 3/4 of a mile walk around the neighborhood this morning. At one point, all three were screaming – Nathan tripped and skinned his knee, I have no idea why Emily was upset (just being whiny) and Joshua was screaming because his pacifier kept falling out of his mouth… but hey that’s life, right? We’re just one big happy family. Haha. But no, really, I was proud of myself. I didn’t get upset and aside from telling Nathan “does it look like I have a bandaid on me?” when he insisted he needed a band-aid now for his (barely) bleeding knee, I thought I was pretty good.
