A few days ago, I was eating a bowl of Special K for breakfast. Nathan came up to me and asked “Mom, is that cereal going to make you lose weight?” I did a double take and looked at him funny. He said “That Special K cereal is supposed to make you lose weight. I saw on tv. Is it going to make you lose weight?” I told him that I hoped it would.
Nathan must have seen one of those Special K commercials and when he saw the box of cereal on the counter, he put it together. More proof that we really have to be careful of what our kids see on tv. Scary – and funny!
A few days ago, Emily, Nate, & I were sitting on the couch relaxing and watching a show for a few minutes. We usually fast forward commercials (LOVE our tivo!) but I was also making up a grocery list so I let a few go by without whipping out the remote. All of a sudden, Emily starts laughing and pointing to the tv and says “There’s Daddy!”
I stopped what I was doing and rewound the commercial to see what she was talking about.
It was one of those Mastercard ones with the different food characters – the Green Giant man, the Starkist tuna fish, etc. all eating dinner around the table. I was very intrigued to see which one was “Daddy.” I replayed it and Emily pointed to the Pillsbury doughboy character and said “See, there DADDY!”
I couldn’t stop laughing.
Last Christmas, Emily really liked a particular Doughboy ornament I had for the tree (I’ve always liked Doughboy.) If you pushed a button on his tummy, he laughed his trademark “Hee-hee!” At the time, I started joking that if we poked Daddy’s tummy, he would laugh like Doughboy. Emily thought that was really funny.
Obviously Emily remembered it months later.
Yeah, sorry hon – this was just one of those things I couldn’t resist writing about… 😉
