My baby is one! One year ago today, I posted this: Baby Joshua is Here!
One year ago today, Joshua was born at 8:59 am, weighing 10 lb 7.5 oz and 20.5″ long.
Joshua is 24 pounds and 31.5″:
Joshua isn’t walking yet; he seems quite content to crawl everywhere at a very fast pace, so it might be a little longer before he does. That’s ok – I’m not in a hurry.
He says “Mama,” “Dada,” “Dod” (dog), “Na Na” (For Nathan, he just started this today and Nathan is very pleased)
He claps, gives high fives, and even waves sometimes.
I was awoken this morning to Nathan singing “Happy Birthday!” to Joshua. It was so cute!
We went grocery shopping this morning and ordered Joshua’s cake for our little party on Saturday. All three kids also got cookies from the bakery, including Joshua! Usually I don’t give him one because well he’s only just now 1 and also because we’re trying gluten-free, but since it was his birthday and gluten doesn’t seem do anything more than cause his eczema to break out a tiny bit, I decided to allow it. Plus the bakery lady handed me 3 cookies – how could I not give it to him?! Joshua was so cute and SO absolutely thrilled. He very carefully ate every single bite of that cookie – I think he probably dropped less crumbs than Nathan or Emily!
We’re having a small celebration tonight, with homemade cupcakes.
On Saturday, we’ll have Joshua’s party, complete with cake, balloons, and presents. We’re keeping it simple and sweet, with just us family, but it will be fun. We do have one very special guest coming – my dad aka Grandpa! He’ll be driving up on Friday to stay for just over a week. We are all very excited and looking forward to his visit.
Nate is taking the week off work (although he still has classes) so we’re planning on a couple trips up north, weather-permitting, and hopefully even Story Land. I probably won’t have much time to post, so if you wonder, that’s where I am.
If you could please keep me in your prayers – that I won’t be too sick and miserable, I would really appreciate it. The morning sickness is back full force (I had a couple days of relief) and I just really want to be able to enjoy seeing my dad, without constantly worrying about getting sick! Thanks everyone!
Here’s some more pictures of our little guy today:
Our mini celebration tonight
Joshua did not know what to think about the candle – I thought he’d be grabbing for it, but instead he was very skeptical:
He was not sure about that frosting stuck on his hand:
And then he got really mad & screamed at us:
…but he calmed down when I put a bit in his mouth:
…and then he realized it was food and it was pretty good:
Happy Birthday again to our sweet boy! We love you SO much, Joshua!
