I am almost 7 weeks along now and my due date is January 30th, 2011. So far things are going well. I’ve had morning sickness from early on – the nausea is pretty much all day now and while taking a B Complex vitamin seems to keep away the vomiting, let’s just say this baby is making its presence known. Morning sickness is such a funny thing – while it’s not fun at all and sometimes can be quite miserable, it’s also a nice reassurance because it lets me know things are going well with our little one.
Yesterday, I had an early ultrasound. I know my dates, but the doctor sent me in for one anyways. The baby was tiny, but a cute little bean and very much alive and well. I saw a precious little heartbeat, beating rapidly away at 130 bpm. The tech said the baby was measuring a couple days behind – at 6 weeks 1 day, where I was 6 weeks 5 days by my dates, but she said not to worry as the baby looked great and the heartbeat was strong.
Here’s our first glimpse of our little peanut – the circle is the yolk sac & the baby is the little lump next to it:
I’m not sure if the doctor will change my due date to February 3rd or not, based on the baby’s measurements, but usually they don’t change due dates unless there’s a week difference, so hopefully I’ll stay at January 30th. Regardless, we’ll have an end of January baby, as I’ll have a planned c-section at 39 weeks.
So there’s our little news! We are really happy & I am going to really enjoy this pregnancy, as this will be our 4th and last baby. Yes, our last. With having c-sections and pregnancy not being easy on me, we decided it was time to stop. We have 3 beautiful children and one more will be such a blessing and Nate & I are both happy with the number 4.
We told the kids last weekend, as we knew Nathan would guess or at least start asking questions when I had my u/s yesterday and they are all very excited. Nathan and Emily immediately announced that it was a “baby sister!” and Emily is SO excited for her sister to share her room. I had to caution them that we don’t know yet, and won’t for a couple more months, and it could be a boy, so not to get too set on a baby sister. So later this week, Nathan said he thought it could be a brother and Emily got really mad at him. That began a small argument and Nathan finally admitted that he still thought it was a baby sister. (He was just saying a brother because he wanted to bug Emily. *sigh!*)
