It went really well. Especially because I actually had an appointment today, unlike last week. Nate was sweet enough to meet me there again and watch the kids.
My wonderful doctor came in and even though she warned us “This could take awhile” as the baby is still really small, she found the heartbeat within seconds. It was a strong 145 bpm and the doctor said “Wow, you have a strong, feisty one here!”
Everything looks good – I’m measuring right on track, my bp is good, and I haven’t gained any weight yet, which is always nice. I know it won’t last – now is when the weight gain always picks up for me – but I’ll take what I can get!
I asked my doctor about my umbilical hernia and as I expected, she said they wouldn’t do anything unless I was in a lot of pain. It’s not worth fixing during pregnancy, because things get moved around so much anyways that a repair will likely be “undone.” I expected as much, but it hasn’t been bothering me lately anyways so we’ll just figure it out as it comes.
I have to add that I really love my doctor. This is the same doctor who saw me through my pregnancies with Emily & Joshua & she delivered both of them. It is so wonderful to have someone you can trust and who works with you and knows you. She is fantastic and I can’t say enough about her.
The biggest news: my big ultrasound is scheduled for August 25th! This is the big anatomy scan and also where we will – hopefully, baby-cooperating – find out whether we are having a boy or a girl! It’s just 5 weeks away from today and I can’t wait! If you would pray with us that this baby is healthy and strong, that’s all that really matters. Thanks! 🙂
I’ll leave you with this picture of Joshua, “playing” with Daddy’s laptop. Don’t worry – Daddy was right there and took it away shortly after I took this picture. It was so cute!
ETA: I am thinking PINK and Nate thinks PINK too. The kids all think PINK, especially Emily. If you vote BOY, you are going to have to answer to our little girl because she is quite set on having a “baby sister.” All she talks about is how her baby sister is going to share her room and she is going to share her dollies with sister, etc. I keep reminding her how this baby could be a brother too and she agrees, but goes right on about a baby sister. If it is a boy, I’m in trouble! I am personally hoping for a girl, because I just adore little girls with all their pink girly clothes and hair bows and things and plus it would even our family up too with 2 boys and 2 girls. But another boy would wonderful too. We shall see!
