This heat wave continues, but it looks like we’ll get some relief this weekend, so that will be nice.
Today I have my “nurse visit” at 3 pm.
I have to pack up all the kids, drive 45 minutes (one way), only to sit in a boring office room and have the nurse lecture me on all the usual pregnancy do’s and dont’s (this is my 4th baby, I think I’m pretty familiar by now), go over family history (already done as this is my 3rd baby with this doctor), and get my weight/blood pressure/temperature, etc. – all of which I know are fine. And lastly, they’ll send me down to the lab, where I’ll have to wait once again and then get blood work done.
All of this with the kids in tow. They’re usually pretty good, but that nurse office is tempting for them – all those books and clutter on the desk. I hate bringing them to the lab too. I’m not generally too germ-a-phobic, but doctor’s offices and labs make me nervous. You just don’t know and with kids touching everything and then putting their hands in the mouths – well, yuck! I’m not exactly going to have a relaxing afternoon.
Oh yes, and then the 45 minute drive back home.
Really this is a complete waste of time in my opinion. I did try to get out of it, but the receptionist said I had to have a nurse visit and if I didn’t, she would personally cancel my doctor appointment, which is next week. *sigh* Fine, fine, fine, it’s not worth arguing with them.
One plus is that we’ll be in the air conditioning for 2-3 hours this afternoon. Gotta look at the good!
