My doctor appointment and ultrasound went well. In fact, the ultrasound went very well.
The technician did all the measurements (it was really hard to see any good pictures of Luke because he is getting bigger & squished in there) and then the perinatologist came in. He said he was quite shocked, but the bleed has almost disappeared! He said my case has been unique from the start, but he never expected it to get this much smaller at this late stage. He is very pleased with this, and while it still does not decrease my risk of water breaking early (the bleed already irritated the membranes), it’s just one less thing to worry about. I told him we’ve had a lot of people praying for us and he nodded.
There may not be a medical explanation for why the bleed got so much smaller, but we know, right?! The Lord answered prayer! Thank you, Jesus! And thank you to everyone who has been praying for us!
Luke is doing well. He measured in at 5 pounds 1 ounces, so he is smaller – in fact a full pound smaller – than my other babies measured at this point. Could it be possible that maybe we will have a 9 pound baby? Even if Luke packs on as much weight as Joshua did between 33 and 39 weeks, he will only be in the low 9 pound range. We might even have an 8 pounder! That is small for us, considering my smallest two babies were 9 lb 13 oz! (See my last post!) Still, that’s just comparing him to my other babies, not most babies. Lol. Luke is a good size. He is healthy & looks great.
My doctor appointment went well too. My doctor wants me to stay off my feet and on my Procardia until 35 weeks and at that point, I can stop the meds and do more. However if the contractions are causing me too much discomfort, I can keep taking them. She is very happy that I’ve made it this far. I went over my birth plan with her – even though I have c-sections, I can still specify a few things and that’s makes a big difference for me. She signed it and is faxing it over to the hospital to put in my chart! We are ready to go! My dear mother-in-law is coming up to watch the other kids when Luke arrives & she has her plane ticket & everything is set on that end! I’m so thankful for her!
I am feeling very optimistic right now. Luke is doing well, the bleed is almost gone, my doctors are happy. I am almost there! As tired and achy as I am, I know this is all worth it and I can’t wait to hold my beautiful baby boy! I can’t wait to share pictures of him with you all!
