Our sweet baby arrived this morning! Luke Richard was born at 8:00 am exactly, weighing 7 pounds 13 ounces and measured 19.75 inches. He is healthy & sooo adorable!
He had a little bit of breathy difficulty in the beginning, something the doctors and nurses said was because he’s a c-section baby (they don’t get ‘squeezed’ like normal deliveries so sometimes they aren’t able to get all the fluid out of their lungs fully) and not because he’s a little early (which of course made me feel better.)
After a few hours of monitoring him with us and Luke was still ‘grunting’, they decided to take him down to the Special Care Nursery or NICU just to make sure his respiratory stats were ok. They were – he is satting in the 99th percentile which is perfect, and while he was there, his breathing improved, so they let us take him back to the maternity floor. I’m holding him right now & he’s grunting a little, but it’s ‘intermittent’ which they said is ok (they just don’t want it to get worse.) He is sooo cute and so small compared to my others. He’s a full 2 pounds smaller than Nathan & Emily!
I am doing quite well. I’m exhausted, but Ive already been out of bed walking and it went quite well. When they took Luke to the NICU, Nate went with him and my amazing nurse helped me out of bed (just 4.5 hours after my c-section!) and I was able to walk. She took me in a wheelchair downstairs, but not before I didn’t walk 10 feet to the bathroom and back. I am already feeling so much better & more human. I can walk easier now just a few hours after major abdonimal surgery than yesterday!
God is so good. I am still in awe that my precious baby boy is sleeping on my chest while I type this now. He is doing really well.
Please pray that his breathing stays ok and doesn’t get worse. They don’t think it will, but he is under ‘watch.’
I will try to get pictures up soon – I can’t wait to share this precious little boy that you all prayed for for so long! Oh he is just sooo cute!
Thank You Jesus!
