A little while ago, I overheard Nathan & Emily saying a couple of “dirty” words in our home (nothing really bad; they’ve never heard swear words, but other words they know are not allowed.) We had them sit down to hold a bar of soap in their mouth (blue for Nathan, pink for Emily of course) for a minute to remind them to keep their mouths clean.
Joshua was watching, as usual. and when I went to put the soap away, Joshua came running over, pleading “Me! Me! Me!” He wanted to taste the soap too. Because, of course, he wants to do everything his big brother and sister do. I gave Joshua the soap bar and he popped the end into his mouth. He held it there for all of 2 seconds before he pulled it out, gave it the weirdest look, and then dropped it as quickly as he grabbed it. Then the look he gave me before saying “No!” and running away! I don’t think he’ll be wanting to taste soap anymore after that!
