Grandpa is the best. Each of the kids adore him and have their own special relationship with him.
This year, Joshua’s really become attached to Grandpa. Grandpa’s become Joshua’s “person.” You see, Joshua attaches himself to one person and that is the person he goes to when he has a boo-boo and needs a hug, or is frustrated and needs help, or when he wants attention, etc. Of course if said person isn’t readily available, he’ll go to the next-in-line people.
I used to be Joshua’s “person” until last fall when I was on bedrest and couldn’t jump up anymore. Nate fell into the role then. Everything was about “Daddy.” In January/February, after Luke was born, and I became mobile again, I became “The Person” again. And I’ve remained that person until this past week when Grandpa arrived. Within just a few days, Grandpa was awarded the role of “Joshua’s Person.” When Joshua fell and scraped his knee, I went to give him a hug and he screamed “NO! NaNa! (which is how he says Grandpa)” and refused to let me pick him up. Only Grandpa would do.
They are really cute together.
Next week, when Grandpa has to leave, I’ll be in trouble!
