It can be stressful when our little ones are ill. Is it just a simple cold or could it be something more serious? It’s especially hard when our children are very small because they can’t communicate well to tell us what the problem is. Do they have an earache or are they just annoyed because their nose is stuffy?
My two little boys were sick a couple weeks ago. I figured they both had a mild summer cold virus, but with Luke being only 6 months, I knew I needed to keep a close eye on his temperature. Normally, I have to fight with regular digital thermometers which the kids hate. It’s hard enough when they are sick, and it can be so frustrating when you have to hold a thermometer under their arm for seemingly forever and you’re still left wondering if the reading is accurate. We also have an old ear thermometer but my kids hate that even more than the digital thermometer and it’s not accurate at all for small children and babies.
Thankfully, I was sent an Exergen Temporal Thermometer in perfect time. I can’t tell you how relieved I was to not have to use my old thermometers!
The Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer provides fast, accurate readings with a gentle forehead scan. It works by measuring the natural heat over the temporary artery on the forehead with infrared technology. Consistently proven to be the most accurate method of temperature measurement, temporal artery thermometers are used and recommended by doctors and hospitals.
Both Joshua & Luke have been hospitalized over the last year (Joshua last fall for breathing problems and Luke in February for the flu) and both times, the staff used a temporal artery thermometer.
Now Exergen brings this technology into our own homes and I would put this thermometer on my list of “must have” parent products. It is very easy to use – you just press and hold the button and gently scan it over your child’s forehead.
In less than 2 seconds, you get an accurate reading and it’s so non-invasive, you can use it on a sleeping child! Luke was sleeping when my thermometer arrived so I tiptoed into his room and quickly tried it out. He barely stirred when I lightly scanned it across his forehead. As I suspected, he had a low fever (100.2), but I knew I could rest assured knowing that the reading was accurate. It was great being able to easily keep an eye on his temperature later. Both my little ones got over their illness quickly and for me, it was less stressful, thanks to Exergen.
Here’s a short video I took of using the Exergen thermometer on Luke earlier today.
I highly recommend the Exergen Temporal Thermometer. You can buy it online and at most stores.
