My best friend, Melissa, came to visit yesterday and stayed overnight. Her husband was away on business and with 3 little girls, those overnight trips get lonely and long quickly. I completely understand that feeling as my own husband travels and I am so glad she came. Plus it was great for the kids to play and for us to spend some long-overdue time together. We’ve both had babies this past year (her youngest is almost 3 months) and life has been busy and hard for us to get together.
The kids had fun playing (and fighting…and then happily playing again…) and we even did homeschool together. Melissa is homeschooling her daughter who is Emily’s best friend and it’s fun to have the girls both doing K-5 work together. We had both them practicing their vowels and writing letters and counting.
I wish I had more pictures, but with all the kids, I didn’t think to pull out my camera more. Luke was hilarious with Melissa’s baby – once he saw her in the bouncy seat on the floor, he crawled right over and was insistent on touching her (which I didn’t allow, so he got very loud and screeched at me.) I’m not sure if he was more interested in the baby or the fact that she was in his old bouncy seat (which I had put away a month ago.) I put him in the bouncy seat once and he leaned back, grabbed his toes, and just grinned at me. Of course that only lasted a minute before he was trying to climb out! (See where’s my pictures?!)
Melissa is my dearest friend and I am so thankful for her. We met at church a few years ago and we’ve become very close. She is the one I call when I am having a long day or when I need to vent and ramble on and on and on. And I like to think I’m there for her like that too. We have coined a phrase “Short story long” because we both go on and on at times about something that really should be quick (much like I am doing right now!)
Melissa is also a very talented seamstress and she has her own shop – MelissaMellor.com. We were talking about me doing a review/giveaway of some her creations (there are many – she is amazing!) so perhaps that may be coming soon…. (If you’re reading this, no pressure there, Mel! haha!)
