I took Emily and Luke in for their yearly check-ups today.
That’s always a big event because our doctor is an hour away. I drove about 115 miles there and back. You could say I’m completely insane to drive that far. (And maybe I am a little.) But our doctor is awesome. Seriously, she is the best ever.
She trusts me as a mom and takes my opinion 100% into account. There are no decisions made without me, I am apart of everything every step of the way. I love that she respects that I know my kids better than anyone else in this world. I’m their mom, of course I do. Just like all of you moms know your kids. But not all doctors realize that. When “Dr O” joined the practice we went to 4 years ago, I knew I had found a gem. So when she opened her own practice even farther away, it was an easy decision to stick with her.
She also loves the natural medicine aspect that I do but if it comes down to needing “regular” medicine, she’s all for it. Exactly the way I like it.
Today, I asked her about Emily’s growing pains at night and Dr O recommended I give her a homeopathic remedy called Calc phos. Ironically, that same remedy is also great for teething and I’m giving it to Luke to help bring those stubborn teeth through quicker.
But at the same time, when I asked her what to do for Luke’s little bit of cradle cap, she said “Oh just rub on a little Selsun Blue or Head & Shoulders.” See? Practical. I LOVE her.
Both Luke and Emily are doing very well. Luke is 23 pounds 2.5 ounces and 30″ tall at 13 months now. And I’m not going to share Emily’s stats because she’s 5 and a girl and I don’t want her to hate me one day for sharing that with the whole world. Lol.
