Spring is a great time to get family portraits taken. Perhaps your family has grown or at least, your children certainly have. The warmer weather lends an element of joy to the atmosphere and it’s the perfect time to capture a special memory. There’s also graduations, holidays, birthdays, and many other reasons.
Jcpenney portrait studios is offering a great deal for the month of April. For $20, you can get 6 traditional portrait sheets and you can mix and match sizes and images, plus get one free $9 sitting fee. My favorite part of that deal (besides the awesome price of course) is that you can choose different images. Often the package deals only apply to one picture and that can be so hard to choose from when you have so many photos. With this deal, you don’t have to sacrifice price to get the pictures you want.
With our family of six, it can certainly be an adventure to get photos taken. But I’ve learned a few things. Here’s a couple of my personal portrait-taking tips:
- This is pretty common sense, but make sure you time it for when your kids are likely to be happiest. For my family, that’s early morning – before nap times and not in the afternoon, when my little ones might be crankier.
- Include small children’s favorite stuffed toy or “lovey” – ragged or not. It’s part of who they are and it might mean the difference between a happy child or not.
- This is my biggest tip – don’t stress about the photo being perfect. I used to put such emphasis on getting everyone to smile perfectly. But one day it occurred to me – they might not all be smiling – maybe one child is poking another, maybe one is making a funny face. But that’s life. Perfect smiles aren’t reality and I’d rather remember my family as happy and carefree than perfect.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of jcpenney Portrait Studio. I was asked to create a Pinterest Board and pin at least five (5) pins. I give jcpenney the right to repin any or all images/original content from this board. I received a promotional item as a thanks for my participation.
