It’s been a long week. Nathan & Emily got spoiled from seeing Daddy for 4 days in a row with Thanksgiving and they’ve been acting out all week. I feel bad for them – since Sunday night, they’ve only seen Daddy once – briefly on Tuesday night.
I’ve been doing better. Yesterday, I cleaned the kitchen, vacuumed the entire downstairs, baked Christmas cookies, cleaned up after that, and folded laundry. For me – at this point – that’s a lot. Then I made the mistake of staying up until Nate came home at 11:15 pm. Not a good idea. I was too tired. But then I couldn’t fall asleep for the life of me. I don’t think I finally fell asleep until 1 am. And this is me who usually is in bed (lately anyways) at 10 pm. Then for whatever reason, I woke up at 6 am and could not get back to sleep. I finally dozed off for a little bit around 8 am, but of course I had to get up soon afterwards. I am so exhausted today.
I dragged myself out of bed and went into Emily’s room. I was greeted by a giant pile of clothes behind her bedroom door. She had taken every last piece of clothing out of 4 dresser drawers. She’s done this on occasion lately & of course I’m not happy about it as it means more folding & putting away when I have enough things to do. But of course that’s life with kids, right?
But this morning, Emily went a step further. With a sinking feeling, I realized that Emily wasn’t wearing any pajama pants. I was afraid to look, but I had to and discovered that she wasn’t wearing a diaper either. And of course, she had gone #2. Lord, have mercy. Where was that diaper?! I found it on the bottom of the pile of her clothes. Emily had taken it off and then decided to use EVERY PIECE OF CLOTHING in her drawers to clean it up. This included some brand new Gymboree clothing WITH the tags still on. (Can I begin to pull my hair out yet?)
After cleaning that up – with both kids clambering for breakfast all the while – I started yet another load of laundry and my morning began.
Emily’s been a wild thing this morning. Normally she’s not – Nathan is – but they apparently decided to reverse roles today. Emily’s been racing around, throwing magnets across the kitchen floor while I valiantly attempted to do school with Nathan, & screeching at the top of her lungs all the while.
I finished school with Nathan, cleaned up some of the mess Emily made (my pile of coupons thrown everywhere amongst other things), called Nate to vent, and then sat down to blog for a minute. Now both kids were tearing around and Nathan banged his head and started screaming at me. (He wasn’t really hurt, just being loud.) I sent them both up to their rooms because MOMMY needs a few minutes of quiet time before my head explodes. I’m fighting off one of those nasty headaches too. On top of being incredibly exhausted.
It’s 11:55 am and I haven’t even taken a shower yet…. *sigh*
Thank God it’s Friday!
