What a nasty virus! I had heard it was going around, but I’m still not even sure how we managed to catch it. But we did, no doubt about that.
I am still extremely weak and exhausted, but I am feeling better. So is Nate. He took off work yesterday because there was no way he would have been able to function. Thankfully that extra day helped him out a lot and he is feeling much better and is back to work today.
I am beyond tired right now, but I’m feeling better, so I’m very thankful for that. I seriously pulled some lower stomach muscles/ligaments because this illness was so violent and its still sore, but slowly improving.
Looking back, I really should have gone to the hospital on Saturday night, but at the time I couldn’t imagine the 50 minute drive, plus dealing with 2 kids when we don’t have a sitter and then Nate being sick too. But I was very ill. My fever spiked to 103.5, (even 2 extra strength Tylenol only brought it down to 102) which isn’t too terrible by itself, but add in the dehydration and the fact that my heart was racing so fast I couldn’t sleep, it was pretty bad. I finally took my pulse on Sunday evening after I was feeling better (I’m not exactly sure why I didn’t on Sat except that I wasn’t coherent enough to think)and it was 120 bpm after I had been resting for 2 hours straight. I know it was faster on Saturday/Sunday morning and that’s a little scary.
Thankfully, I am ok. And our little Joshua seems to have weathered my illness just fine. He kicked and nudged me plenty. And I pulled out my home doppler and checked his heartrate and it’s right around 150 bpm where it is normally. He seems happy & content. And much happier today now that mama is eating again! Of course, I know he really was fine and still being “fed” even though I couldn’t even stomach liquids. It’s truly amazing how God designed our bodies to take care of our precious little ones.
And so far, Nathan & Emily seem to be ok. I’m a little hesitant to say they’ve escaped, but so far so good!
Nate had hoped to get a car this weekend, but on Friday he didn’t see any good prospectives and then the rest of the weekend was quickly shot. I’m hoping & praying that something good will come up this upcoming weekend. We also had to postpone Nate’s birthday dinner to next Saturday.
Our church is currently searching for a new pastor and the pastoral search committee thinks they have found one. The new pastor & his wife were in town this past week to meet the church, answer questions, have prayer services, and he also preached this past Sunday. Nate & I had wanted to attend a couple of the evening events last week, but because of Nate’s work schedule we weren’t able to make it. But we figured we’d at least get to hear him preach on Sunday. Nope, thanks to this nasty virus. We were disappointed, but thankfully our church has the message on the website! So as soon as I finish this blog post, I’m going to listen to it. I’m really excited!
I appreciate all of your thoughts & prayers – thank you very much.
