I had a really rough day yesterday. I hadn’t been able to get more than an hour straight of sleep for 3 nights and I was exhausted. I stayed home from church and rested on the couch ALL day. I did nothing. And I was miserable. All afternoon, I was contracting every 10 minutes but it never picked up more than that aside from an hour period in the evening where they picked up to every 5 minutes. But once I went to bed, they subsided.
After the kids were in bed around 8 pm, Nate convinced me to go to bed myself. I was in the kitchen taking my vitamins and I was telling him that if I went to bed so soon, I would be up even more often than normal using the bathroom. Nate responded “Well I have my cellphone and I’ll bring up yours, so you can just call me…”
I said “And WHAT? You’ll go to the bathroom for me?! Really?!”
And he couldn’t stop laughing. It was pretty funny.
Ok, looking back, that doesn’t look nearly as funny written down as it was last night in person. Then again, maybe it was partly the exhaustion… But hey, I’m trying to take what I can get at this point!
Thank the Lord, I did sleep better last night. A combination of a Tylenol w. Codeine and 1/2 Unisom helped. I’ve been trying to avoid the codeine as much as possible because of what the doctor said, but at this point, I have been in such pain that I can’t sleep, so I decided to take it again last night. I’m glad I did because it definitely made a difference and I feel more human today.
Emily is being an absolute bear today. That sounds a little nicer than a brat. But really she is being a brat and already wearing me out. I can’t even tell you how many meltdowns she’s had over little things and how many times she’s gone into screaming fits over something that is “MINE!” (she knows I don’t allow that, but today apparently all has gone out the window.) I’ve sent her up to her room for time-outs and after yet another meltdown, I sent both kids outside. (It is a beautiful perfect 70 degree day – doesn’t get much nicer than this!) She sat on the porch and kicked and screamed at the top of her lungs (thank goodness all the nearby neighbors work during the day!) for 10 minutes. And banged on the door. And screamed some more. After what seemed like forever, she gave up and went out to play with Nathan. But only a few minutes later, she came back to kick and scream some more.
On an entirely different topic, I found our pug laying on the small guinea pig bed that had somehow ended up on the dining room floor. I had to get a video of it. I love her wagging pug tail. Did you know that pugs can uncurl their tails when they relax? Maybe I was just stupid or something but I didn’t know that until we brought Abby home as a puppy and saw her actually do it – too funny!
