Joshua is now 13 months old (how does that happen?!) and he’s not walking yet. I know he’s still well within the ‘normal’ range, but I don’t see him walking anytime soon either. He crawls everywhere at a very fast pace and he seems quite content to just stick with that method of transportation. He pulls up and walks all around the couch, kitchen chairs, etc. while holding on, so he does bear full weight on his legs. He’s pretty sturdy too. But he doesn’t stand alone yet – at least not for longer than a brief second. I think he could, but he won’t. Every time we try to get him to stand, he hesitates and then carefully – and very well balanced – sits down. Joshua just doesn’t seem to want to walk.
This is new to me because Nathan was walking at 9 months of age and Emily started walking on her first birthday. I’ve never had a “later” walker.
I admit it – it would be nice to have Joshua walking soon as I am pregnant. I’m not worried, but I’m also starting to wonder if there’s anything I should do. Joshua has a couple of “walking toys” – like this little push car that he can stand behind and push/walk along with, but he won’t do it. I try to make a big deal out of it and act all excited and he just sits down.
Any ideas? Or is it really okay and I shouldn’t worry or do anything?
