Time for APPLE PICKING!
We couldn’t wait and went earlier than usual this year – Monday (Labor Day!) It was a beautiful 75 degree day and we had so much fun. We found a nice little farm not far away and will definitely be going back soon.
Nathan & Emily, ready to start picking with their bags:
Getting a ride from the tractor up the trail to where the apples are!
The McIntosh apples were ready to pick:
We had to pick an apple for Joshua right away – he loves eating whole apples & was quite happy to sit on Daddy’s shoulders and drool all over:
Joshua, with one shoe & sock on – one off. (This is why we’re heading to Stride Rite this weekend – his feet are too wide for these shoes to stay on!)The kids also enjoyed visiting with Blaze, the horse. Blaze was very shy because he had previously been abused, but the very nice farm adopted him and he has a very nice life now:
Blaze loved eating an apple the kids dropped for him:
We had so much fun! I forgot to take a picture of all the apples we got – but we picked about 25 lb! I’ve been making apple goodies all week – apple pie, apple coffee cake, and yesterday homemade applesauce that was really quite easy & yummy! I’m planning to make more this afternoon:
It is sooo nice today – it’s about 67 degrees & COOL! I am so happy because last week was SO hot and I was miserable. Today, I feel great! The forecast predicts no higher than 72 degree weather for the next week too, so I think we are finally approaching some nice fall weather! Yay!
Joshua is happier too. He’s been teething for about a month now and has had a runny nose for the past 2-3 weeks. I noticed a new tooth poking through on his bottom gum and his nose is finally clearing up, so we’re both happier about that!
Joshua is making some progress in the ‘walking’ department too. He’ll take several steps now without holding on. He still prefers to crawl, but at least we’re making some headway!
