Did you watch the wedding? I saw glimpses and am now sitting down to watch part of the many hours I was able to tivo to get the full experience. (I’m sure it will take me most of the week to actually get through it all – I have so little time to actually sit and watch tv these days! lol) I have been so excited as I love this kind of thing. There aren’t many real life love stories like this anymore – at least not on the public level of this Royal couple – and it’s so romantic!
Princess William & Katherine (I heard she doesn’t want to be called Kate anymore) are such a cute couple & I love Katherine -she is so beautiful & classy.
I’ve always been interested in British Royalty – probably because I grew up with my mom loving Princess Diana. Of course I wasn’t born yet when Princess Diana & Prince Charles married but my mom told me about it and I also remember that she thought it was neat that Prince William is the same age as me – he is only a couple months older.
I still remember vividly the morning Princess Diana had died. It was a Sunday morning and we were all rushing around getting ready for church when my mom heard the news on the radio. It was so sad. Later, we watched her funeral on live tv and I remember thinking how sad it was that Prince William and Harry would grow up without their mother.
Now they are both grown and seeing Prince William get married today is truly a special event. I guess I am particularly emotional lately (darn those changing post-baby hormones! Lol) but I couldn’t help but tear up when the news reporter showed a London newspaper about the wedding and a picture of Princess Diana with the headline “Mum would be proud.”
As I am watching, they just shared a quote from Winston Churchill in 1947 when Queen Elizabeth married. Great Britain, like much of the world, was still going through a tough time in the aftermath of World War II and regarding the royal wedding, Winston Churchill said “A splash of color on the hard road we travel.”
The correspondents made the point that rings true for the wedding today too.
What do you think about Royalty and the wedding today?
