It’s January and that means we’re in the thick of cold and flu season. If you’re anything like me, the thought of your family getting sick can strike fear in your heart. It’s not just that your little one is sick. It’s that the entire family catches it. It means sleepless nights and crying children who can’t figure out why their superhero mom doesn’t make them better now. And sometimes our superhero cloaks lets us down and we moms get sick too.
This year, I’ve found an amazing natural immune system boost remedy that works.
It’s simple: natural raw honey, common kitchen spices, and a touch of olive oil. Alone they don’t seem all that special, but together the combination packs a powerful punch toward whatever germs may be lurking.
- Honey*, raw and unfiltered (Check out the health food section or a health food store; you won’t get the same benefits from the usual processed honey bear at the store.) *Note: Never give honey to infants under the age of one.
- Black Pepper
- Olive Oil
Together, this combination of spices and honey offers amazing anti-viral and anti-bacterial germ-fighting power. There’s also anti-inflammatory properties so it’s soothing for sore throats and can help with congestion too.
My kids get over a cold in 2-3 days now. Or don’t even catch it full-blown at all. (That’s the best part.)
My asthma-prone 4 year-old-Joshua hasn’t had an asthma attack since I started giving him this natural immune system boost remedy. Normally, this is the worst time of year for him – all those germs go right to his lungs and the poor little dude is coughing all over the place. This year? Nada. How to Make The Remedy:
“Honey stuff” is super easy to make.
Just take a spoonful of honey…
…and add the spices to taste. I never measure.
(Go easy on the spices if this is for kids. I like mine spicy, but my kids don’t.)
Finally, add a little bit of olive oil (maybe 1/2 tsp at most.) It thins the mixture so it’s easier to mix.
Mix everything together and that’s it.
Eat it right off the spoon. The honey is sweet and the spices flavorful.
You can take this once daily or, if you’re feeling under the weather, every 3-5 hours throughout the day to help boost your immune system even further.
