We love Netflix. A couple years ago, we ditched our expensive cable bill and went with Netflix as our primary source of television. At just $7.99 a month for unlimited streaming, Netflix is a bargain when you consider the thousands of shows and movies they offer.
Netflix has many of my kids’ favorite shows, from classics like Sesame Street and Thomas & Friends: Go Go Thomas to newer favorites like Pingu (have you seen this cute show about a penguin family?) and Caillou.
NetflixKids has a “Just for Kids” section for ages 2-12.
While you can’t access it from every Netflix set up (for example our television Roku set doesn’t include the kids section), most systems do offer this, including the regular Netflix.com website. It provides me peace of mind so I don’t have to worry about my kids accidentally stumbling across inappropriate content. Common Sense Media adds ratings, reviews, and information to help too.
Family TV Time with #NetflixKids
Recently, Disney signed on with Netflix and now there’s even more great shows. We regularly enjoy family movie nights by watching favorites, like The Aristocats, 101 Dalmations, and Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue.
One of Luke and Joshua’s favorite shows is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Road Rally. I always get huge smiles when I turn Mickey Mouse on.
Emily has her favorites too, like Angelina Ballerina and My Little Pony.
Now don’t think my kids are constantly on Netflix; they must earn their TV time by doing chores, playing outside, and spending time together first. But, when they do watch TV, I’m glad that NetflixKids is there with a great selection of fun, quality shows that we all enjoy as a family.
Not only is Netflix fantastic at home, but you can access it anytime anywhere from hundreds of devices. Free apps on iPads, iPhones, Androids, tablets, gaming systems, and more make it incredibly easy to log in and access Netflix wherever you want.
Netflix has saved the day for me more than once. There have been a couple times when Joshua’s had the beginning of an asthma attack away from home and we were able to get him to stop running around and calm down by putting his favorite Thomas & Friends Netflix show on my iPad. Thank you, Netflix!
What are you watching on TV with your family?
