When it comes to making Christmas wish lists in my house, all things American Girl top the list for my girls. When the catalog arrives in the mail, they impatiently wait their turn to flip through it. I often find it in tatters weeks after receiving it in the mail due to how frequently the girls look through it.
This year, my 8 year old’s biggest wish is for Saige, the 2013 Doll of the Year. Ever since being first on the hold list at our local library to read Saige’s books and later watching the Saige movie, she has talked non-stop about saving up to buy Saige before the end of 2013. So, when Saige arrived for us to review earlier this week, Rebekah was beside herself with joy. It was her biggest wish come true! When we opened the package from American Girl the first thing I noticed was the great packaging. The little window, so a girl can see the face of her brand new doll immediately is a nice touch. Often, toys are frustrating and difficult to get out of the box, but Saige was very quick and easy to remove- which was wonderful since my girl could not wait to hold Saige in her arms! From her bright blue eyes to adorable freckles, the details on our American Girl Doll Saige are stunning. Saige has a trendy western style that my little girl loves. She came with pierced ears, earrings, and beautiful turquoise ring. I must mention, that Saige’s ring can fall of easily, so we’ve decided to make sure she doesn’t wear the ring out of Rebekah’s room. Her long auburn hair is perfect for girls, like mine, who love to style their doll’s hair. Having read Saige’s books and watched her movie, Rebekah really enjoys acting out Saige’s story when she plays. American Girl Doll Saige is a wonderful role model for girls and I love that my girl can learn great life lessons from Saige. She teaches girls to stand up for what they believe is important and, even if they are young, they can make a difference. Since Saige is American Girl’s 2013 Girl of the Year she will be gone at the end of the year, so Christmas is the perfect time to buy her for your daughter before it is too late!
