Plus, the movie is scheduled to air on Saturday, July 13th at 8/7 C on NBC.
Our family is a huge fan of American Girl- I still remember choosing my American Girl doll as a child and counted down the years until my girls were old enough to begin their love of American Girl also! My 8 and 9-year-old daughters were first on the hold list to borrow Saige’s books from the library when they were released this year. They both immediately fell in love with Saige. In fact, my younger daughter is trying to save enough money to buy the Saige doll before the end of 2013! When I told my girls that we would get to review an advance copy of Saige’s movie they begged to check our mailbox everyday for its arrival.
Our movie arrived this week, after a long week of sickness in our house. It was such a treat to celebrate the end of the virus by cuddling up in my bed to watch Saige Paints the Sky together. The movie got unanimous praise from the entire family. Before the credits finished rolling, even my 6-year-old son was begging to watch the movie again tomorrow.
One of the first things I noticed was the soundtrack. The songs throughout the movie were so much fun, and contained great messages about friendship. My toddler and preschooler kept climbing down so they could dance along. I know my girls will be begging me to find and download all the songs from the movie!
I was very impressed in the lessons presented in the movie. The theme centers around Saige facing her fears (she has stage fright) and finding her voice to save the art program at school, while also repairing a struggling friendship. Saige’s grandmother, Mimi, teaches her that making a difference is important no matter how young she is and giving up isn’t an option. One of my favorite parts was when Mimi tells Saige that she should try to save the art program even if she isn’t sure she can win. What a great lesson for people of all ages!
This is the perfect movie for family movie night! Pop some popcorn, put on your jammies and snuggle up with your girls to watch An American Girl: Saige Paints the Sky. It is an uplifting, heartwarming movie with great life lessons every Mom will want to share with her daughter.
