It is raining toys in the Swan household, and Samuel couldn’t be more pleased! And his mommy is pretty excited too. 🙂 A few days ago we got a wonderful package from Hasbro, and it contained two Playskool toys Samuel has had his eye on! And we are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to try them out and let you know what we think! First up is the Playskool Learn ‘N’ Pop Lion. Samuel seems to be attracted to lions, so this seemed like a perfect fit for him.
The Learn ‘N’ Pop Lion is for babies nine months and up. It is a grow-with-me toy that helps little ones learn fine motor skills and counting. Babies can drop the colorful balls directly into the lion’s tummy, or they can feed the balls into the lion’s mouth and listen as it counts up to ten in four different languages. You have the option to choose English, Spanish, French, or Mandarin Chinese. Your little one can also push the lion’s tail down to activate music and lights and watch as the balls bounce out of his tummy.
Right now Samuel enjoys taking the balls out of the lion’s tummy and playing with them. He hasn’t figured out how to push the tail down yet, but when I do it for him he seems amused by the lights and music, and will go chasing after the balls as they bounce out. As he gets older he will be able to do that himself! And if I open the lion’s mouth for him to put the balls in, he amuses himself by slamming the mouth closed, rather than feeding the balls into it. So, I’m sure that is something that will also come with time.
Overall, I think this is a cute toy, but a bit limited for one as young as Samuel. I’m sure with time he will get more use out of it as he begins to understand how it works, but for right now, he is mainly just interested in taking the balls out of the lion’s tummy and playing with them. Of course, I don’t mind that as it helps keep him busy!
