With all of the business in this day and age, it’s almost impossible to not use our phones in the car. A lot of us use our phones while running errands or even for work purposes, and it’s no secret that talking or texting while driving is dangerous. That’s why the BlueAnt Wireless Commute was created; the only Bluetooth device on the market that allows users to send and read messages with Siri and Android totally handsfree.
Out here in California, it’s actually illegal to use your phone while driving if it is not handsfree, so a device like this is necessary. When I was asked to review this product, I knew that my brother-in-law could really use one. He drives a lot for his job and is constantly on his phone with co-workers and clients.
The device showed up at his doorstep in a small box. After opening it, he decided to set it up immediately. He was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set up. He said that he literally opened it, turned it on, and he was already using it. The directions say to to power it up and the voice commands will guide you through pairing. I don’t know about you, but an easy set up is a huge plus for our family!
He then found a nice place for it in his car and tested it out. It’s sleek design makes it blend in with the car so it is not a hindrance while driving (this is also a plus!). The Commute downloaded his phonebook automatically so it made it really easy to make calls. In fact, you never even have to turn it on or off. As soon as you get in your car, it will connect with your phone – no need to remember to try and connect it to your phone!
If you want to make a call, all you have to say is “BlueAnt, speak to me” which my brother-in-law found very fun. You can access all of your commands via Siri or Android. It also offers A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) for streaming audio, music and turn-by-turn directions from GPS applications on mobile phones. If a call comes in while listening to music, the Commute will automatically mute the music and resume when the call ends. I just love this feature!
The sound quality is excellent, too, which is very important. He said that he can hear the person on the other line great and it comes in very clear. However, sometimes he has distortion on the receiving end, but this might be due to the type of car he drives. He said that a higher end car may eliminate more of the background interference. This is something that I’m sure the Commute, or any other handsfree device, can’t really avoid.
My brother-in-law said that he uses the BlueAnt Wireless Commute every day for work purposes and for personal use. He said that he loves how convenient it is and how it has created a safer and more efficient way to travel. He would recommend it for anyone and especially for those that use their phones a lot while driving.
