I am feeling much better today. Thank you so much to all of you who took the time to comment or email and encourage me – it really helped & means so much.
Nate came home last night & let me talk his ear off & cry. I had a good long cry where I just let everything out and that helped. I try to be so brave and “together” all the time that I forget that it’s ok to say “I’m overwhelmed!” and cry.
Here’s a couple pictures of Joshua today – he cut his 3rd molar yesterday & was majorly grumpy, but today was all smiley & happy again:
He’s quite the busy little guy. When he gets an idea into his head, he is determined. I remember that Nathan was pretty busy too, but he was more easily distracted (he still is today.) But Joshua is not easily distracted & will keep going for whatever he was trying to do unless we physically restrain him or block whatever it is.
He loves to put things under places – under the couch or under the oven or under the fridge. I am always pulling books & toys & other miscellaneous items out from under those places.
And his latest favorite activity – throwing everything out. Especially into the diaper pail in the bathroom (we use a regular flip-lid trash can.) I have fished more legos & toys & even my favorite daily Beth Moore devotional book!!! (EEEK!) Needless to say, the new rule is to keep the bathroom door SHUT so it will minimize his contact with the diaper pail.
He’s decreased his throwing things into the kitchen trash, mainly because I moved it. Although not before he managed to single-handedly throw away almost my entire set of misc. rubbermaid containers from my plastic container drawer. He shut the drawer when he was done and I didn’t realize they were missing until the trash had been taken out! Oh well, it was about time to get some new ones anyways – and at least they’re not expensive.
He walks everywhere now and has put crawling aside. He’s starting to get faster & is almost running now. Today he stole Emily’s stuffed pink pig and ran away from her laughing & squealing. It was so cute & I so wish I had had my camera for that moment!
Today he also tried a new trick & pulled an old container dirty container from the top of the trash & came running into the living room with it, shouting “No, No, No!” Yep, that’s right, bud – NO!!!
And his other latest achievement? Climbing the stairs lickity split. This has sent me racing over to the stairs faster than I thought possible at least 3 or 4 times today alone. Until I finally smartened up and pulled out the gate.
Our little guy is getting bigger every day!
