A little while ago, I overheard Nathan & Emily saying a couple of “dirty” words in our home (nothing really bad; they’ve never heard swear words, but other words they know are not allowed.) We had them sit down to hold a bar of soap in their mouth (blue for Nathan, pink for Emily of course) for a minute to remind them to keep their mouths clean.
Joshua was watching, as usual. and when I went to put the soap away, Joshua came running over, pleading “Me! Me! Me!” He wanted to taste the soap too. Because, of course, he wants to do everything his big brother and sister do. I gave Joshua the soap bar and he popped the end into his mouth. He held it there for all of 2 seconds before he pulled it out, gave it the weirdest look, and then dropped it as quickly as he grabbed it. Then the look he gave me before saying “No!” and running away! I don’t think he’ll be wanting to taste soap anymore after that!

I tried this when my little girl was 1 to 2 because she was biting me and latching on….You know it doesn't work when you go to take a bath and find a child side bite missing from your bar of soaop

I was cutting homemade soap while my son was standing there begging for some. I can't blame him it smelled good and I was cutting it with a knife, on a cutting board, at the kitchen table. I did get a little sad when I found tiny bites out of several of the bars of soap my husband and I had worked hard on. I gave them to people (it was for Christmas gifts) who I knew would appreciate the bites.

Well I bet he keeps his mouth clean now so he never has to do the soap thing, LOL.

I stumbled this post, thats funny, my mother put soap in my brothers mouth when we were kids, for using curse words, I apologized so much cuz it was both of us and I didn't have to get the soap. I occasionally say this to my kids, but only did it one time, years ago…it always makes me think of A Christmas Story…LOL…Dogs love to eat soap….
