I love quick and easy recipes. Don’t you? If a recipe has complicated ingredients or takes too long to make, I move on.
That’s one of the many reasons why I love this easy recipe for Apple Monkey Bread Bites.
This monkey bread recipe has chunks of apple and drips with butter and cinnamon. It’s mouthwatering.
To be honest, I’m not sure who loves Apple Monkey Bread Bites more: kids or adults.
It’s meant to be kid food. It kinda has the name “monkey” in it. But the apple cinnamon is irresistible and I, along with any mom friends or other adults who may be with me, can’t help ourselves from digging in alongside the kids.
Friends, neighbors, and family alike rave about how yummy these little bites are. And no one believes it when I say Apple Monkey Bread Bites take less than 10 minutes to whip together with another 15 in the oven. Yes, they are that quick.
This is a perfect recipe to have your kids help you make!
One time I was in the middle of making this recipe when I got distracted mid-baking-session (some friends came over). Nathan, who is 9, finished making them and even popped them in the oven all by himself. (Don’t worry, he’s been taught oven safety.)
What You’ll Need to Make Apple Monkey Bread Bites:
- ½ cup butter, melted
- ½ cup brown sugar, packed
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 cans (7.5 oz each) refrigerated biscuits OR 1 large can of biscuits
- ½ cup apple – cored, peeled, and chopped into small pieces
- gallon ziploc bag
Spray 12 muffin cups with cooking spray. Don’t skip this step or you’ll be left with a big mess in your muffin tins!
Mix the melted butter and brown sugar in a small bowl.
Spoon one tablespoon of the butter mixture into each muffin cup.
Cut the biscuits into small pieces.
Older helpers can assist with this step.
Next, mix the cinnamon and granulated sugar together in the gallon Ziploc bag. Younger helpers can shake up the bag. Make sure it’s sealed tightly first.
Add the biscuit pieces into the zipped bag, seal tightly, and shake to coat. Small children will love helping with this step.
Place the biscuit pieces into the muffin tins evenly on top of the melted butter mixture.
Bake at 350 degrees for approx 15 minutes or until golden brown and the biscuits are cooked through. (You can poke them with a fork to check.)
The smell of fresh cinnamon baked treats all around the house is a very nice bonus.
Remove your apple monkey bread bites from the oven and let them sit for exactly 1 minute, no longer. Flip the monkey bread bites out of the muffin tins and upside down onto a cookie sheet or plate. This will allow the butter mixture to drizzle over your monkey bread bites and also prevent them from sticking into your muffin tin.
Enjoy your apple monkey bread bites warm.
Apple Monkey Bread Bites are perfect as a fun breakfast, snack, or dessert. The whole family will love them!

Anyone know if these freeze/reheat well?
Erika says
I’ve never tried it, Susan, but I don’t think it would hurt. They are so easy to make that if you try freezing it and it doesn’t work, it’s not like you just wasted a lot of time.
