Loaded with essential nutrients like magnesium, iron, Vitamin C, potassium, and heart-healthy good fatty acids, this Tropical Green Smoothie is so delicious, you won’t be able to tell you’re enjoying something so healthy! this idea now...

So often, we sabotage our own efforts when it comes to losing weight or making healthy choices. We know what we need to do, yet we don’t do it. In that moment when we are faced with the decision to eat one more piece of cake or one more serving of dinner when it’s not needed, many of us cave in. We give excuses, but the biggest one is often “just one more” won’t hurt.

That’s partially true, but when “just one more” happens multiple times a day, every day, there’s a problem.

Today I’ll share a simple tip that will help start your day off right. It lays the groundwork for a successful day with healthier, more conscious eating habits.

How to Start Your Day Off Right

This simple tip will start your day off right and lays the groundwork for healthier, more conscious eating habits. Plus a Tropical Green Smoothie recipe so delicious, you won't even know you're enjoying something so healthy!

I’m not going to preach that you should eat breakfast every morning. Not everyone does and that’s okay. Even if you’re not a breakfast-eater, this tip still applies to you.

I used to enjoy the occasional doughnut or other sugary pastry for breakfast, but I wouldn’t have a good day. I’d have less energy, less focus, and was far less likely to make healthier choices throughout my day.

I learned that when I ate a good, hearty breakfast, like scrambled eggs or steel cut oats, I’d feel much better with motivation to make better choices later.

You see, sugar has always been my kryptonite. I’ve had a horrible sweet tooth for as long as I can remember and I have a hard time stopping at just one of whatever sweet food is in front of me. If I have a sugary muffin for breakfast, I will usually reach for something not-so-health later that morning. And pretty much the rest of my day.

But if I start my day off with a veggie omelet, I’m far more likely to make a better choice at lunch time. Maybe I’ll have a green smoothie instead of snacking. I’ll eat an avocado or salad for a mid-afternoon snack instead of reaching for a large handful of nuts. (Nuts can be quite nutritious and filling, but they’re like chips for me – if I have one, I’m tempted to go back for more and more…)

It feels great to make good choices and by doing so, we motivate ourselves to continue.

If you’re used to eating poorly in the morning (and yes that includes a sugary pumpkin spice latte), choose something better as a replacement this week. I’m not saying you can’t have that latte, but even delaying it by a couple of hours can be a simple step toward easing into better choices.

This Tropical Green Smoothie is a perfect breakfast for busy mornings; it takes just a minute or two to make and is easy to take on-the-go. Just pour in a mason jar and cap tightly!

If you prefer not to eat breakfast, you can make this green smoothie as a perfect mid-morning snack or even lunch!

With spinach, avocado, banana, pineapple, mango, and almond milk (or your preferred milk), it’s amazing just how much is packed into this little drink.

That smoothie has an interesting combination of flavors. I do feel a bit better if I eat breakfast as opposed to when I don’t.

I always add spinach to my smoothies…haven’t tried avocados yet. I have a cheese addiction. If I could give that up I would be a lot healthier!

That looks like a great smoothie. We have been making more smoothies lately so I love to get new ideas so I am not making the same ones over and over.

I have friends who make stuff like this. I can’t get over the color – it just looks like something I know I would hate!

You should try it, Scott. Even my afraid-of-green-things kids love it!
