One of my all time favorite recipes is Homemade Peanut Butter Cups. But since peanut butter isn’t “Paleo”, this was a recipe that would obviously need some changes.
Luckily, it wasn’t hard to figure out an amazing Paleo Peanut Butter Cups recipe. I based this recipe on my original recipe and this one is just as tasty, if not better!
This recipe for Paleo Peanut Butter Cups is no-bake and will satisfy any craving for peanut butter and chocolate.
In fact, if Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are (or were) one of your favorite treats like they were for me, this is the perfect healthier homemade alternative.
Just remember that this recipe is still considered a treat, so moderation is still important!
Technically yes, these are Almond Butter Cups and I tried call them that, but it didn’t sound right. “Peanut Butter Cups” rings. “Almond Butter Cups” doesn’t quite sound the same. Is it just me?
Actually my kids call them “Mom’s Healthier Peanut Butter Cups.”
Whatever you want to call them, these tasty treats are mouthwatering.
Paleo Peanut Butter Cups are kinda addictive too, which is both a good and bad thing. Good because they are just that darn delicious and bad because it’s hard to not eat “just one more!”
Homemade Paleo Peanut Butter Cups Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup smooth almond butter
- 3 Tbsp coconut oil, divided
- 2 Tbsp coconut flour
- 2 Tbsp honey
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 12-15 oz soy-free chocolate chips (I use Enjoy Life Chocolate)
This recipe is so easy to whip up – the longest part is melting the chocolate chips!
Begin by adding the almond butter, 2 Tbsp coconut oil, coconut flour, honey, and vanilla extract to a food processor or mixer.
Mix well and scrape the sides as needed.
Melt the chocolate chips with 1 tablespoon of coconut oil over low heat. I filled a medium saucepan with about 1-2″ of water and put a glass bowl on top. This is an easy way to do a double boiler without the extra pans.
Turn the heat on to low-medium and let it slowly melt.
If you get impatient and increase the heat, the chocolate may very well seize up and refuse to cooperate. Trust me, I’ve had my share of melting-chocolate-issues. Just be patient and slowly melt it. Stir the last little bits of chocolate chunks in until it’s nice and smooth.
Line a muffin tin with muffin cups. You can do a dozen regular or two dozen mini. I usually do the mini ones because it’s more fun.
Add about 1 teaspoon of chocolate to the bottom of each cup.
Top with about a tablespoon or so of the almond butter mixture.
Cover with the remaining melted chocolate.
Refrigerate for about an hour or so until the peanut butter cups are solid.

These little babies would be a dream come true at my house. We’re not paleo but this recipe would please anyone. They look absolutely delectable! I don’t know a whole lot about paleo other than meat is good and grain is not. Why is peanut butter not on the paleo diet? Again, great recipe and delicious results!

I’m not a huge almond butter fan, so I used 1/4 c almond butter and 1/4 c cashew butter, and they were quite tasty. I got impatient waiting for them to set in the fridge, so I put them in the freezer. I may have hidden them from my family and eaten more than I should have.

Great tip! Thanks, Donna.
