This Grilled Cheese, Ham, and Broccoli Sandwich is a more filling twist on the classic grilled cheese, thanks to the added ham, and you get some vegetables with broccoli too. It’s a simple, tasty sandwich the whole family will enjoy.

grilled cheese broccoli and ham sandwich this idea now...

When I came up with this combination of ingredients I was actually planning a new back-to-school sandwich for my kids. Afterall, it’s nice to have a change from the typical PB&J and plain grilled cheese sandwiches.

What I did not expect, was for me to love this grilled cheese, ham and broccoli sandwich too! I’m typically not a fan of grilled cheese because it’s just boring to me, but this combination is so tasty, I now make a sandwich for myself whenever I grill this for my kids. Not to mention that my husband requests it too!

All four of my kids, from my 15-year-old to my 7-year-old, love this sandwich recipe and request it often. They’ve all given it two thumbs up.

Though I must add that Luke, my 7-year-old said it would be “even better without the broccoli, but I guess I’ll eat it.” Gotta love kids!

Mckenzie artisan deli products

I use McKenzie Natural Artisan Deli meat and cheese for this recipe. Not all deli meats are created the same and McKenzie Natural Artisan stands out for several reasons:

  • turkey, chicken, pork, and beef are raised without antibiotics ever
  • no growth hormones or steroids are ever used
  • sourced from independent farms, many of which are family owned and operated
  • animals are vegetarian fed – no animal fat or by-products
  • gluten-free
  • humane animal treatment and sourcing is very important
  • 100+ years of history (since 1907)

With my family’s food sensitivities (especially gluten) and our overall goal to eat healthier, I am happy to serve McKenzie Natural Artisan meat and cheese to my family.

We use McKenzie Natural Artisan Ham for this Grilled Cheese, Ham, and Broccoli Sandwich. Their ham has no added nitrates or nitrites (except those naturally occurring in sea salt and celery powder) and is made from real ingredients, like pure Vermont maple syrup and hand-selected herbs and spices.

They offer 3 delicious varieties, including:

  • Naturally Smoked uncured ham
  • Honey uncured ham
  • Black Forest uncured ham

The honey ham is my family’s favorite for this recipe, but we’ve also used the other varieties and they are delicious too.

We also use McKenzie Natural Artisan Provolone cheese for this recipe. Their cheese is made in small batches with hormone-free milk from family farms and it’s so delicious!

By the way, you can purchase McKenzie Natural Artisan from the deli counter or find it conveniently pre-sliced – your choice!

Add broccoli…

…followed by another piece of cheese.

Spray mayo on the second slice of bread, if desired. Or leave it out.

Two of my kids prefer mayo, while the other two do not. I personally like a small amount on my own Grilled Cheese, Ham, and Broccoli Sandwich.

Finish your sandwich with the last slice of bread.

Make one more sandwich, then cook both on a frying pan on low-medium heat with avocado oil or olive oil in the bottom.

Cook until the bread is browned on one side, then flip and cook until the bread is browned on the other side and the cheese is beginning to melt.

Cut into slices and serve your delicious Grilled Cheese, Ham, and Broccoli Sandwich.
