Who doesn’t enjoy a good smoothie?
Of course, many smoothies aren’t nearly as “healthy” as they seem. Many are chock full of sugar and very high in calories. {Have you ever looked at the nutritional values for some of those popular smoothie places? You may as well enjoy a slice of cheesecake! Well okay maybe not that far, but you get my point!}
But they don’t have to be.
That’s where options like this Strawberry Banana Smoothie recipe come in. This smoothie hits the spot for a perfect mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack and is so delicious, it will become a favorite healthy snack for the whole family.
And it’s so quick and easy to whip up, you can easily make a batch for the kids too. Or better yet, get them to help out – they’ll enjoy making their own special smoothie treat and you’ll appreciate how simple it is.
My 7 year old, Emily, can make her very own Strawberry Banana Smoothie, just about all by herself. (If the gallon of milk is very full, I give her hand with that. And of course I run the magic bullet.)
Emily and I are going to show you how easy it is to whip up a Strawberry Banana Smoothie…
Start with your simple ingredients:
1 banana, 1/2 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen), 1/3-1/2 cup of milk (you can substitute coconut milk or almond milk), 1/3 cup of strawberry yogurt (Greek is my favorite) or for kids, use 1 tube of strawberry yogurt, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.
You’ll need a blender. We have a handy little magic bullet that’s perfect for whipping up quick smoothies.
Now you’re going to simply add all the ingredients to your blender or cup or whatever you’re using:
Yogurt…
Strawberries…
Banana…
Milk…
Vanilla extract…
Now blend it all together.
If you like a frothier, thicker smoothie, you can add ice and blend again.
I usually only add a few ice chips when I’m making smoothies for the kids – it’s easier for them to drink with a straw when it’s not too thick.
Serve immediately and enjoy.
This Strawberry Banana Smoothie is a great choice to put on the quick-and-easy snack list for your family.

We really love making smoothies in the morning or even for a quick after school snack. We actually freeze overripe bananas and strawberries so that we can skip the ice when we make them!

We love fruit smoothies at home. The only one we just don’t like is Strawberry Banana (OK, my husband is the only one).
Nicole G. says
I do love smoothies, especially strawberry banana. I hate to burst your bubble, though, but strawberry yogurt has plenty of added sugar itself that adds to your otherwise very healthy treat.
Erika says
That is true, Nicole. I just meant that there wasn’t additional sugar added to the recipe, or other sweeteners, like syrups, etc. that many smoothies contain. But you are right. 🙂 Thanks for your comment. Have a great day.

We love smoothies in my house. Strawberry banana is one of our favorites. Our recipe is very similar. Main difference is we freeze all of our fresh fruit and do not add ice. This sounds good too.
