Homemade lavender facial sugar scrub makes a wonderful gift for other moms who could use some pampering too.

While I like making and using this scrub all year long, I find it particularly effective in the winter when my skin feels extra dry and flaky. The combination of items in this scrub helps put a hydrating glow back into my skin!

Supplies

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 5 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 1 tablespoon of purple jojoba beads, optional (I found mine on Etsy)
  • baby food jar or small mason jar to store it in

How to make a sugar face scrub

Making this face scrub is super easy—in just minutes, you’ll be done!

First, add 1/4 cup of coconut oil to 3/4 cup sugar. You may need to put your coconut oil in the microwave for a few seconds to soften it up if it’s colder than 70 degrees in your house.

Next, add a tablespoon of purple jojoba beads. These are optional and not 100% necessary for a sugar scrub, but the pop of color they give just makes this sugar scrub that much more fun!

Then, add about 5 drops of lavender essential oil to your mixture. A little goes a long way with essential oils!

Stir all of that together until it is well mixed. Make sure the jojoba beads are evenly spread throughout.

That’s it! You are done—I told you it was easy. 🙂

How to use

Using this scrub is simple. Start by getting your face wet, then scooping out a small amount of scrub. About 1-2 quarter-sized dollops is correct.

Then, gently rub your fingers together to spread the scrub out between your two hands. Use your fingers to gently apply the scrub in circular motions starting at your forehead and working your way down. Make sure to use light pressure.

I usually do all of the above while in the shower – I find it easier than being at my sink. But, you can do whichever method serves you best!

When you’re done, rinse off the scrub, and follow up with a moisturizer. I highly recommend making a batch of this ultra-creamy whipped face moisturizer!

Storage

To keep your sugar face scrub fresh, store it in an airtight container like a baby food jar or a small mason jar. This amount will fill 2 baby food jars or one jam-sized mason jar. If you store it in a cool, dry place, it should keep for 1-2 months.

After you’ve tried this amazing facial sugar scrub, you’ll want to share it with your friends or even make them their own as a gift because it’s so easy and inexpensive!

I recommend making up a nice homemade DIY bath and beauty product gift basket for yourself or a friend.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t be. The ingredients are natural and very gentle, especially the lavender. If you’re not sure, you can test out a small area on your face before scrubbing your whole face. I hope you enjoy it!

Do you have to use the thick coconut oil or can you use the liquid kind?

You can use the liquid kind too! I usually use melted coconut oil myself because it’s rarely that perfect “just so” temperature where I live.
