This guilt-free, healthy pineapple Dole whip recipe has just three ingredients and takes less than 5 minutes to whip up! Your entire family will love this delicious frozen treat, and you’ll feel great about giving it to them.
If you’ve ever been to Disneyland or Disney World, you may have had the opportunity to try pineapple dole whip. This tasty, frozen treat was one I daydreamed about for years, until one day, I decided to recreate the treat right at home.
If you also enjoy Disney dole whip, this copycat recipe is going to blow you away. It’s that good!
This recipe happens to be dairy free and sugar free, but don’t let that scare you away. In fact, this is our number one most requested recipe from the kids in the summer months—and I’m happy to oblige!
So, let’s get to it: here’s how to make the perfect creamy Dole whip!

Ingredients
I love that the ingredients for this pineapple whip are wholesome and simple. There is no corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, or preservatives in this clean recipe. Here’s all you’ll need to have on hand to whip this treat up:
- Banana – ripe
- Frozen pineapple chunks – you can cut up a fresh pineapple and freeze the chunks, too, but for the quickest, easiest option, just buy a bag of frozen pineapple chunks.
- Coconut milk – I think coconut milk tastes best, but if you don’t have it or if you are intolerant, you can also use almond or cashew milk.
- Optional ingredients –
- Grass-fed collagen peptides (for a creamier taste and added benefits)
- Rum extract (for a more adult flavor)
Equipment
You won’t need an ice cream maker for this homemade dole whip, but you will need a food processor.
If you choose to freeze your pineapple whip instead of eating it immediately, you will need a freezer-safe container with a lid, too!
How to Make Pineapple Whip
Making this pineapple dole whip recipe is so easy! All it takes are a few ingredients and a couple of minutes of time.
Put the banana, pineapple chunks, and coconut milk into your food processor.
Blend for 20-40 seconds or so (depending on how powerful your processor is). Heads up—it will probably make a lot of noise! Chopping frozen pineapple takes power! Make sure you have the stopper on top to prevent anything from flying out.
If you’re adding collagen peptides, add a scoop to your pineapple coconut ice cream now. If you want to add a little extra taste for adults, add 1/2 tsp rum extract or actual rum if you prefer.
Stop and scrape down the sides and blend again for a few more seconds until it’s nice and creamy.
Your healthy pineapple ice cream is ready to serve right away!
Make-Ahead Homemade Dole Whip
You can also turn this into a make-ahead recipe. If you plan to serve it later or would like your Dole Whip recipe a little firmer, scoop it into a container and freeze it for 1-2 hours. A bread pan is the perfect size for this!
If you leave your pineapple whip in the freezer overnight, you’ll need to thaw it for 20 minutes or so before you can scoop it.
Scoop and serve your delicious, healthy homemade Dole Whip!
Add a chunk of pineapple on top for more juicy pineapple flavor. Yum!

Is it more pineapple tasting than banana? Not a huge banana fan but love pineapple!
Erika says
It’s definitely more pineapple, Kris. The banana just adds a little more sweetness and rounded flavor.
Jill says
Can you use regular milk instead of the special kind?
Erika says
Yes, you can. 🙂
kaila says
Can you mix in whip cream?
Erika says
Sure, Kaila. It won’t be quite as “healthy” but why not?
Marion Toscano says
Sounds great but I cannot find frozen pineapple. Can I use canned pineapple?
Erika says
You do want frozen pineapple for this recipe otherwise it won’t “whip” well. In your case, you can try draining the canned pineapple, then freezing the chunks by placing on parchment paper in the freezer.
Janice Earl says
So glad this is healthy alternative as I love pineapple whip!
Mary Jo says
Can this be done in a blender? I do not have a food processor
Erika says
You can try it, but it likely won’t be as smooth. It also depends on your blender. For example, a high powered vitamix blender would probably work well but a cheap blender may not. Good luck!

Can’t wait to try this!
