Our first day of school went great. My little boy is officially in first grade. And I’ve started some preschool lessons with Emily.
Of course nothing goes exactly as planned, especially when you have small children, but it went very well.
Joshua napped for the first part of our day and woke up right when I was going to send the kids out for recess. So it was great timing – something that rarely happens with babies. That gave me time to feed & change him while Nathan ran some of his energy out and then we went back to lessons. Joshua refused to let me put him down (without screaming that is) so I had to try to juggle holding him, while teaching Nathan math class, which included some manipulatives (= requires two hands.) That was interesting, but I figured it out, as us moms usually do right?
Nathan did an excellent job and seemed to forget very little over the summer. We started cursive writing and he’s done a great job so far. I was very proud of him. He had a few moments of “I don’t really feel like doing this” but when I reminded him that all kids have to go to school and there is no way around it, he changed his attitude and did quite well.
Today went great too. We’re done with lessons. Emily is currently taking a nap, Joshua is cooing in the bouncy seat next to me, and Nathan is reading a nature book in the living room. As soon as I finish this blog post (or something makes me have to get up – the much more likely scenerio), I have to clean my kitchen and hopefully get some organizing done. I’ve been getting some new organizing ideas from a book I’m reading so I’m excited about that. I can’t wait to get to Target and get some more bins!
Here’s a couple pictures from our first day of school:
