Make your own DIY cleansing honey face wash for a pampering experience that’s both indulgent and affordable. Plus, using honey as a face wash will leave your face feeling clean, soft, and hydrated!
Over the years, I’ve tried nearly every facial cleanser on the market. Some have thoroughly dried out my skin, while others have been okay.
And through all that experimenting, I’ve come to a very important conclusion: great skincare can be both indulgent and inexpensive. In fact, you can make your own pampering DIY facial cleansers easily and affordably.
You may get different messaging from all those TV commercials that want to sell you products, but it’s true!
There was a time when I would never have thought of washing my face with honey. Use food in DIY body care products? Yep! Not only is it effective, but it’s cost-effective, too.
A Must-Have Honey Face Wash Recipe
This DIY is a pampering product just for you! Busy moms have a hard time stepping back and pampering themselves – especially if they have to make the products before they can use them.
That’s why I love quick recipes for products like this honey face cleanser that I can make even in the midst of a busy day.
Give yourself permission to take just a few minutes (it’s quick – I promise) out of your day and mix up some lovely lavender honey face wash.
Your skin (and your mental health) will thank you! Plus, it’s easy to make and much cheaper than “natural” face washes you can find in the store.
Benefits Of Using Honey As A Face Wash
Prior to this, I had never used honey in a beauty product before. But it makes sense that with all of its other benefits, honey also helps our skin.
I am a firm believer in natural products for the skin. In fact, you should check out how I used coconut oil and essential oils to help fight my adult acne!
I created this recipe after I learned about the benefits of using honey on the skin. Here are just a few:
- Cleansing – Honey possesses antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants that allow it to remove excess oil and clean your pores to get rid of blackheads gently. It’s my go-to acne fighter!
- Exfoliating – Another benefit of honey is that it naturally exfoliates the skin without drying it out.
- Prevents Aging – Honey’s antioxidants and nutrients help to plump and nourish the skin to reduce the appearance of wrinkles for a more youthful appearance.
Benefits Of Adding Lavender To DIY Body Products
Equally wonderful for our skin is lavender. In fact, it’s the superhero essential oil for all skin ailments. I use it all the time for burns and to relieve itch from bug bites.
Adding lavender to your face wash helps to soothe your skin and relieve it of any inflammation. Therefore, honey and lavender mixed with a skin-nourishing oil like argan oil give you the perfect natural combo for a powerhouse face wash.

Which Essential Oil Brand Is Best?
When using essential oils, I recommend choosing a high-quality essential oil brand that is 100% pure and offers third-party testing for quality control. Learn how to choose essential oils that work for you and your family, and check out my favorite essential oil company: Rocky Mountain Oils!

How To Store Face Wash Made With Honey
While I was on vacation recently, I used an empty travel-sized bottle to bring my lavender honey face wash. It’s also a nice option for keeping a handy supply in the shower. 😁

Hello! How long will this recipe keep? Will the ingredients separate over time? Thank you <3
Maura says
I’ve only had it on the shelf long enough to use it (a month maybe?) and it seemed fine. I have not tested it for a longer shelf life. I would shake it a bit before using to be sure all of the components stay well mixed.
Denise says
What are the directions of use?
Ilene says
How long is the shelf life for this face wash? I read that the distilled water and honey have to be mixed together.
Angel says
Could I use coconut oil?
Erika says
Good question, Angel! Yes, you can but keep in mind that regular coconut oil will solidify at cooler temperatures.
Asha says
I’m excited to try this! Is the purpose of the water to thin it out? If so, I may leave it out to extend the shelf life. I read that grapefruit seed extract can preserve shelf life. Thanks!
Erika says
Yes, it is. Great idea!
Kim says
Do you use this everyday ? Can you use it for mornings and night ?
Erika says
Yes, that’s what I do!
Grace says
Can you make this without the Castile soap? Or can you replace it with something else?
Debra says
I don’t care for Castile soap either. My skin is very sensitive It leaves a film on my skin. I was going to try substituting a natural baby wash instead.
Erika says
Go for it! 🙂
Suzanne says
This looks so good! What a great gift to make for friends or to enjoy yourself!
Vanessa says
Thanks for sharing! Does it keep long?
Erika says
I’d use it up within 2-3 months, but pay attention to the smell. If it starts smelling odd or the texture changes or looks different, it’s probably on the way out. The castile soap has some natural preservatives that help, but it won’t last as long as store bought cleansers.
Rachel says
I just made my second batch of this. My skin looks better than it has in years and doesn’t feel dry like it usually does in winter. Super easy to make and a little goes a long way slightly diluted in a foaming soap dispenser. Love this recipe – thank you!
