If your children haven’t already started back to school, they will be soon. As a mom of a “tween” daughter, I know that getting kids dressed and out the door for the first day of school and many, many school days going forward can be a challenge. It’s important to look good or “cool” for many children and that can add stress to already chaotic mornings. But it doesn’t have to be that crazy. Today, I’ll share how to make a handy Hanging Clothes Organizer for kids that will make getting dressed for school as easy as ABC!
Back-to-School Hanging Clothes Organizer for Kids
- wooden plaque
- paint and paint brush
- paint pen, stencils, or letter stickers and other embellishments
- ribbon – something heavier
- needle and thread
- staples and staple gun
Begin by painting your wooden plaque with 2 coats of paint, allowing it to dry in between applications.
Once the paint has dried begin embellishing the plaque. I used a paint pen to write “What I am Wearing” but you could use stencils or cute stickers too. I also added a little chalkboard sign that can be used to mark the day of the week.
After the embellishing is done fold the ribbon to create 3 loops. Use a needle and thread to securely stitch the ribbon together.
Use a staple gun to attach the ribbon to the back of the plaque.
My plaque came with a hook for hanging but you may need to add one if you’re using a plain piece of wood. Once the ribbon and hook are attached, hang on the wall in your child’s bedroom.
Each evening as part of the evening routine have your kids hang their pants/bottoms, tops, and any accessories they choose in the ribbon loops. The next morning when it’s time to get dressed there is no fuss about what to wear, thanks to your awesome Hanging Clothes Organizer!
If you combine this convenient Hanging Clothes Organizer with our Dry Erase Back-to-School Evening Checklist, getting ready for school will be less hassle and more fun for the kids and you!
You can also make getting dressed for the first day of school as easy as ABC by shopping at Target for school supplies and back-to-school styles. With styles that kids love and parents approve of there are many choices at Target. If the kids can help choose their back-to-school clothes, my mornings will be much easier because the kids are happier!
There are many options at Target, from clothing that is athletic inspired to dresses, skirts, uniforms, and casual clothing.
My daughter loves to run and is involved in almost every sport possible. She found many outfits she loved at Target and I loved the prices.
Even my son got excited about finding styles for back-to-school this year. While he’s much easier when it comes to choosing clothing, he is starting middle school this year and that makes looking “cool” more important. He also found lots of styles he liked at Target.
We had lots of fun trying on all the clothes they found.
We left Target with a cart full of great stuff. The kids got several things they loved and I loved that I could afford what they picked.
I love how Target makes back-to-school shopping so easy with affordable styles and supplies. Back-to-school is easy with great styles that are affordable and all the supplies you and your children need.
